Who are Mr & Mrs Vintage?
We’re Walid and Joujou, the duo behind Mr & Mrs Vintage Typewriters—a British‑Lebanese couple who turned a kitchen‑table hobby into the world’s leading vintage typewriter restoration studio. From that first screwdriver to a fully equipped workshop, we’ve dedicated ourselves to reviving the charm, functionality, and soul of cherished mechanical writing tools.
Every machine we touch undergoes meticulous, hands‑on care. We strip, clean, calibrate, lubricate, and test—restoring original keypress crispness, ribbon alignment, and mechanical perfection. Our clients trust us to breathe new life into author’s companions, collectors’ treasures, and heirlooms destined for new homes.

If you are in the US, Canada, or several other countries, you can watch on The Repair Shop YouTube Channel (not available in the UK).
Our reputation reached national and international acclaim when the BBC’s BAFTA‑winning “The Repair Shop” invited us as their trusted typewriter specialists. We’ve restored unique vintage models—from pre‑war Coronas to Perkins Braille machines—on screen. Netflix’s “Mank” featured three glossy Imperial Good Companions we lovingly prepared, and Jerry Seinfeld even used one of our restored typewriters in his film “Unfrosted.”
Other Media Appearances:
1- In July 2018, we filmed part of an episode of BBC One’s “Money for Nothing” with master upholsterer and TV presenter Jay Blades, who collaborated with us on saving an Underwood 3 Bank Typewriter from being skipped. Episode 7 is available on iPlayer.
2- We were featured on a podcast on BBC World Service’s “Outlook” with Emily Webb, where we discussed how we started our typewriter restoration business and our passion for these magical machines.

Over the past six years, we’ve serviced more than 4,000 typewriters for journalists, novelists, historians, filmmakers, and collectors—from Alaska to Australia, Cape Town to Shetland. Our machines have starred in productions like BBC One’s The ABC Murders and Netflix’s The Crown. Whether it’s a poet in Peru or a novelist in New York, we ship worldwide with carefully tailored packaging and reliable support.
Our restored typewriters have journeyed across the globe—from the icy quiet of Alaska to the deserts of the UAE, the rainforests of Brunei to the coasts of Western Australia. They’ve landed on desks in Hong Kong high-rises, Scottish cottages in the Shetland Islands, and writing nooks throughout the UK, Europe, the United States, and Canada.
But distance has never been what defines our work. Every typewriter we restore is approached as a one-of-a-kind project, deserving of time, care, and obsession. Our goal is always the same: to deliver a machine that feels like a personal treasure, with character, precision, and soul.
Don’t settle for less than exceptional. Your words deserve a worthy instrument.
With thanks,
Walid & Joujou
