Fully Restored Olympia SM8 Portable Typewriter | Crisp Elite Typeface (11 CPI)

📖 Product Overview: Built for Endurance and Refined Through Restoration

Meet the exceptional Olympia SM8 in like-new condition—a potent writing machine built for sheer West German mechanical endurance and refined through comprehensive workshop restoration. Showing minimal signs of prior typing use, this machine is engineered for long, uninterrupted hours of creative writing. Widely regarded alongside the SM9 by novelists, journalists, and poets as one of the finest portable typewriters ever manufactured, the SM8 ranks squarely in our Top 3 Best Typewriters Ever Made.

How Does the SM8 Differ from the SM9?

While both machines share identical West German heavy-duty engineering and buttery-smooth typing action, the primary difference is the tabulator system: while the SM9 features carriage-mounted key controls for setting tab stops, the Olympia SM8 utilizes manual tab stops accessible from the rear panel. This simplified mechanical design offers an exceptionally reliable mechanism with fewer internal moving parts. Additionally, its segment/basket shift mechanism keeps shift-key pressure whisper-light on your hands during long, continuous typing sessions.

Meticulously overhauled at our UK workshop, this machine has undergone a complete deep-flush service to ensure crisp alignment and smooth, responsive operation.
