Extremely rare Imperial 58 Telegram Typewriter

Extremely rare to find Imperial typewriter with Telegraph typeface to type telegrams only. 

Only types in Caps 

Serial X 366119 from 1957.

The Mechanism:

If you look at the keyboard, there is no Shift key as it types only in CAPS. 

Far right side of the keyoard, there is "Letters" key to shift carriage to capped letters. 

On far left, there is the FIGS key, that shifts carriage to type all the Other Figures. 

Space bar is normally the space bar. 

The upper part of the carriage, there are two holders to hold a bar that goes through a roll of telegram papers. 

Key segment is with wide letters to suit all Capped letters. 


The Background & Story 

This was in our personal collection and was acquired with another Imperial typewriters. 

One of the many rescued typewriters we managed to buy during covid lockdown. Was also one of those that was destined to be thrown away due to rough condition. All now better. 

You can find 100s of Imperial 58 when this Telegraph with no shift key and only types in one colour and CAPS is one in a million.
