Who are Mr & Mrs Vintage?
Some businesses begin with a business plan. Ours began with a screwdriver, a kitchen-top, and a typewriter that refused to give up.
We're Walid and Joujou — a British-Lebanese couple, and the team behind what has quietly become the world's leading vintage typewriter restoration workshop. Over 10 years, that kitchen-top obsession has grown into a fully equipped workshop, a global clientele, and a reputation built one immaculately restored machine at a time.

We don't just fix typewriters. We revive them.
Every machine that comes through our workshop is treated as a one-of-a-kind project. We strip it back, clean every mechanism, recalibrate the action, lubricate the moving parts, and test it exhaustively — restoring the crisp keypress, ribbon alignment, and mechanical precision that made these machines legendary in the first place. The result is a typewriter that doesn't just look beautiful. It works beautifully.
Our clients are novelists, journalists, historians, collectors, and filmmakers. Over 5,000 typewriters serviced. Destinations ranging from Alaska to Australia, Cape Town to the Shetland Islands, Hong Kong high-rises to Scottish cottages. Every one of them dispatched with obsessive care and tailored packaging, because a machine this special deserves a journey to match.

Trusted by the BBC. Featured on Netflix.
Our work caught the attention of the BBC's BAFTA-winning series The Repair Shop, where we've appeared across multiple series as their resident typewriter specialists — restoring rare pre-war Coronas, a Perkins Braille writing machine, and other extraordinary machines on national television.
Now we are the typewriter experts on The Repair Shop on BBC.
Beyond the BBC, our restored typewriters have appeared in some of the most acclaimed productions in recent memory. Three of our glossy Imperial Good Companions featured in Netflix's Mank. Jerry Seinfeld used one of our machines in his film Unfrosted. Our typewriters have also been seen on screen in The Crown and The ABC Murders.
In 2018, we joined Jay Blades on BBC One's Money for Nothing to save a rare Underwood 3 Bank Typewriter from being scrapped. That same year, we spoke about our journey on BBC World Service's Outlook podcast, and were featured in The Simple Things magazine.
