A truly exceptional and historically significant example of the Olivetti Graphika, this machine bears serial number 91216, dating it to 1959 — the final year of production, making it among the last ever manufactured. What sets this particular example apart is its rare Reiner typeface, a typeface of considerable artistic pedigree, designed by the celebrated Hungarian-Swiss artist and typographer Imre Reiner.

The Olivetti Graphika was never produced in large numbers, and very few have survived in collectable condition. To accompany this listing, we have produced a dedicated YouTube video exploring the history and significance of this remarkable machine — well worth a watch for any serious collector.

Provenance

This typewriter came to us directly from the son of an Olivetti Company engineer, to whom it was presented as a retirement gift. It remained in the family's care for decades, stored safely and rarely used, until its owner passed away in 2024. A machine with a known and meaningful history — a genuine piece of Olivetti heritage.

Mechanical Condition

  • Professionally restored to full working order
  • Proportional spacing functioning correctly and fully tested
  • Dual-space mechanism operating as intended: right spacer advances three increments, left spacer advances two
  • Fresh black/red ribbon fitted on original metal spools

Platen: The current platen is not new but types well, as evidenced by the test page included in the photographs. A brand-new platen will be fitted before dispatch — please allow 3–4 weeks from 16 March 2026.

Cosmetic Condition

Genuinely restored and serviced to our usual high standard. The frame has been polished, with only minor age-appropriate marks present. The most notable cosmetic wear is found on the front edge beneath the space bar and on the reverse. Keys have been thoroughly cleaned; some show light usage marks consistent with age and authenticity.

Supplied complete with its original dust cover and a new typewriter pad.
